Material Girl

I know you'd rather see a picture of me with my students on my birthday, but I haven't even seen the picture myself. I know I'm not making up for it by posting what I received, but I still had fun doing it because, well, I'm a nerd.

The weird looking thing in the middle is a "Jeu de quilles" - a toy bowling set. I couldn't find the actual one I received (just imagine the animals as carrots and the ball as a rabbit's head) online and I don't have my camera with me currently.

Thank you all so much! It's so wonderful to receive care packages, but I'd rather not receive them and live in the States. Thank you for the card too, Sam. I received it a couple days ago...emotional and already crying after school, my tears of confusion changed to tears of joy when I saw the pictures of the family.
Anne- you're next! We'll spend Sunday afternoon together!

My birthday has been memorable. A few students also gave me presents, and that was just adorable. One girl gave me lotion, another one a purple flower pin...and surprisingly, a boy gave me a drawing that he laminated! Not that it's all about presents, but sometimes, materials things are just nice when you're alone a lot.

KAMA Jersey

This is what I got dad for his birthday. It's pretty cool...

I heard Esther had a pretty cool present: A diary collection of stories she had with dad. I'm not that creative yet = P. 4 more days for Esther!

Cherry Blossom Time

It's that time of year... Cherry Blossom Festival 2006! David and I made our way there twice during the past week. It's beautiful, but traffic (car and foot) was unbelievably awful this weekend... even for DC. Next year we plan to tackle the tidal basin in one of those paddle boats... YES!

Heidi Butterscotch Kim

Hello to the Kims all around the world! David and I would like to formally introduce you to the newest member of the family. Heidi (who had no name at the time) was saved from euthanisation and found, thanks to extremely good fortune, by us at PetSmart. We thought we wanted a kitten, but this little orange and white beauty captured our hearts. Heidi is not fond of catnip, but she is fond of ripped jean tied to the end of a string, and she is also fond of mewing loudly any time we would rather be sleeping. Other than that last bit, she is an extremely good and lovable cat. We know you'll love her as much as we do!
